About

Among Us is a social deduction party game from Innersloth, and the reason it has stayed relevant for years is that its core loop is a conversation, not a mechanic. One to fifteen players occupy a map, one is an impostor, and everything that decides a round happens in text chat and in who you are willing to trust.

What makes it unusual to track is that this is one of the few games where the community creates more content than the developers. Modded game modes, including the widely used Town of Us and The Other Roles, get more playtime than the official map rotation for most dedicated players. An update that does not touch the official modes can still be irrelevant to most of the active player base.

The official update pattern since 2018 has been seasonal rather than content-driven. Anniversary updates add a new map, a new role, and cosmetics. Between those, patches tend to be small: bug fixes, balance tweaks to the roles, and platform certification work. There is no season system and no battle pass cadence.

The practical consequence for tracking this page is that a date here usually means a major themed update rather than a balance patch. If you are playing a modded mode, check whether the date refers to the official game at all, because the mod you are running has its own update schedule that has nothing to do with ours.

Worth knowing: the game is free to play and cross-platform, and role balance changes have historically been contentious because the impostor side is inherently harder. Any patch notes claiming an impersonation change should be read carefully rather than skimmed.
